The Sky-Receiver is a tool for receiving messages transmitted from the upper atmosphere or beyond. Sky-Receiver takes the guesswork out of finding the right radio frequency by encoding all relevant frequencies to sectors of the Earth's sky. Whether or not you are able to gain a clean unobstructed view of the sector you are calibrating to from your current position on the Earth is irrelevant. The tool will handle all trivial concerns such as these for you.
The zip below contains the program as an HTML file. It is recommended to run it as an application though you can run in browser. I will not take responsibility for any information you may receive through Sky-Receiver and any repercussions of your knowing of said information neither will I be able to guarantee to you that you will be able to receive anything of significance whatsoever in your usage of the program.
What kind of messages can I receive?
Presently the program is only powerful enough to receive audio transmissions. Receiving video tranmission is out of reach and scope for now, though I have heard of methods through which an image can be encoded within an audio signal. I am not aware of any broadcasts of such signals currently. Most likely you will hear mundane transmissions like number station, scientific satellite data, or radio. Quite a few of these tend to be encoded. It is recommended you have some knowledge of cryptography or steganography before using this program though it might not be needed, or at least have a Morse Code decoder. I cannot guarantee you will receive anything at all when using this program.
How do I use this program?
If you do not calibrate or tune the internal sensor you will not be able to receive anything. To tune the sensor simply enter the name of a object in the sky. This program assigns codenames to preset and relevant frequencies that would otherwise be too awkward to reach with conventional receiver for interference from within our atmosphere. Most objects outside our solar system, stars, constellations, galaxies, nebulae, should work. If the tool detects a possible transmission, you shall be notified. Be aware that the amplitude may be very low. It is recommended you use an external software to record and listen to transmissions.
Is this under development?
The program exists in a beta currently. I may update it when the need arises.
Will there be anything to pay?
Though I will not make this open source there will be nothing to pay, this is a non-profit program.
